7. Language proficiency
The applicant must meet the mandatory language requirements. In addition to this, it is critically important to be able to use English as a working language. The studies are conducted fully in English.
The selection of students is primarily based on the application documents. Due to the large number of applicants, only the applications ranked highest in a preliminary evaluation based on the suitability of previous degree and sufficient study success will be evaluated against the full set of criteria listed above. The programme reserves the right to interview some of the applicants who have passed the preliminary evaluation if it is necessary to clarify the applicant’s motivation or other information in the application. Applicants selected for the interviews will be informed about the possible interview in advance.
Required application documents
The application includes the online application form, mandatory attachments, and other attachments. Authorized translations may be required. Please see the application instructions for the details.
The mandatory documents include:
official Bachelor's degree certificate or a certificate of equivalent studies (the studies must be completed by 31 July 2014)
official transcript of records listing your completed university studies
curriculum vitae
copy of passport or identity card
language test scores
motivation letter (please prepare carefully and cut and paste onto the application form)
In addition to the mandatory application documents, applicants to the Master’ programmes in Computer Science and Engineering are requested to attach the following documents to the application:
at least one original recommendation letter (preferably academic)
course descriptions of courses taken in relevant subject areas (see the programme-specific list above)
work certificates and certificates of other relevant achievements
copies of any publications
official transcript of records for other university studies which are not listed in the mandatory part of the application
for applicants who have not yet completed their first university degree (B.Sc.), a school-leaving certificate (high school or upper secondary school) and its translation where necessary
GRE or GMAT test results, if available
The application should explain your full educational history. If you have started or completed other studies in addition to the Bachelor's degree mentioned above, please provide also the official transcripts and possible degree certificates of those. If you have work experience or other activities or achievements that could support your application, please include certificates or other proof of these in the application. If you have publications, include copies or permanent hyperlinks to them. Use the CV and motivation letter to provide a summary of your personal history, achievements and objectives and other point that you find important for the application.
The evaluators will check the contents of your previous studies. Often the course titles on the transcript are not sufficiently informative and that is why the course descriptions (syllabi) are needed. For this purpose you can use the course description form (pdf).
